1.2.4?

We see that 1.2.4 is released today...for now we're not upgrading, there may be another point bug-fix release, then we'll wait for a stable bukkit dev build

Remember, not all plugins have even been updated for 1.2.3 yet...we're still getting a little chaos-ey with all the different versions of things to fix :/

Upgrading to 1.2

UPDATE: We are live at 1.2! A few plugins are still not fixed, so we're waiting on those, here's the list:

Oh and update world is updated for 1.2, the previous world that was there is saved as another world.

On Tuesday we will be shutting the server off so that we can complete the upgrade to version 1.2. We have gotten most plugins we need to run, updated, so we are ready to rock! The upgrade process will take a while, the whole map needs to be converted. Also we will keep a backup of the 1.1 server files and map in the event there is some unforseen failure of the upgrade.

1.2 is OUT

First...lemme answer where I have been for the last week or so.....My House Is On The Market! So I've been a little preoccupied :/ That and some epic work projects because it's entering the busy cycle. But I promise I'm not dead!

As always, here's the old game files for before we update, which will be soon: 1.1 version (Windows and Linux). Here's how to find the files that need to be backed up:

  • In Linux: ~/.minecraft
  • In Windows XP: C:/Documents and Settings/[USERNAME]/Application Data/.minecraft
  • In Windows 7: C:/Users/[USERNAME]/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft
  • In OSX: Mac Version of 1.1 /Users/[USERNAME]/Library/Application Support/minecraft

As always, here's the Official Feature List and the often-more-useful Wiki feature and bug list. Also, for everyone asking when Bukkit will be updated, here's their status: Bukkit Dev Status.

Ok so heres a proposition…

so ive been thinking lately about how things are on the server and today whilst talking with wilson i had an idea, so here it is:

-scrap quest world

-scrap skyworld

-scrap update world

- keep nether, end (obviously lol)

-create new main world (with current main world being phased out over say a 3 month period)

-create new creative world (flatlands world type with creative, only open to 'trusted' member of say 4 months +)

-eventually scrap current main world

now this would mean only 3 worlds would remain, noob, new main and creative (excluding nether and end)

which is a lot less than the current 5. i thought that scrapping these worlds made sense as i have been tracking which worlds players are using and for over 90% of the time only main world was being used. This means by reducing or world sizes it would mean a cheaper server to run (unless we get a ton of new people) CORRECTION: the price wouldnt be affected by these changes, thanks cnc for letting me know.

tell me what you think in the comments below, i have a good idea in my head about the reactions to this proposition lol :D

UPDATE: ok this is good, i wrote this to start a debate like this and the feedback is mixed, i was testing the waters to see what people thought about change and how people would react. Dont worry there arent any plans to scrap main world and nor would i like to see it go as there are many, many great structures that would be lost if that were to happen. Thanks for writing on this post, its been interesting.

IRC Chat Connector Live!

We're pleased to announce that you can now chat on the server from a live, web-enabled IRC (Internet Relay Chat) client! We know a lot of people made friends on the server, but have moved on from minecraft. This is a great way to stay connected to the people on the server without having to be logged in all the time. It's an ajax client so it should work on most tablets/phones too. Also...since when you're logged in you're seeing our ads...it helps us pay for the server :D So if you wanna get into the chat room, click the "IRC Chat" on the sidebar, plug in your username, and pop on in! The link is also below.
